Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland

VRTI Shortlisted for Ireland eGovernment Awards 2024

In a wonderful recognition of Computer Science and Humanities partnership, the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland is very pleased to be shortlisted for the Ireland eGovernment Awards 2024 in the AI & Governance category.

For 21 years the Ireland eGovernment Awards has been recognised as the nation’s most prestigious award dedicated to honouring those in the Public Sector delivering digital transformation and innovation. The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland is delighted to join this exceptional and innovative group.  Congratulations to our Director, Dr Peter Crooks and our colleague from the ADAPT Centre, Computer Science Co-PI Professor Declan O’Sullivan and his team.

Accompanying our release in June of 25,000 new records generously shared by the National Archives Ireland, The National Archives UK and the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland – plus many more fascinating documents from our growing list of partners, Minister Catherine Martin T.D. said:

It is wonderful to see what has been achieved – These archival sources will be of great interest to many different audiences, at home and abroad, who want to learn more about the story of our past.’

The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland research programme is supported by the Irish Government through funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under Project Ireland 2040.
