“The moral role that the archive plays is not in establishing the truth in the records, but rather in establishing what the authentic record is.”
VRTI Director Peter Crooks spoke last week at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI)’s Centenary Celebration, The Future of Archives: The Next 100 Years.
His paper was titled “Archives as the Fifth Estate: PRONI’s Next 100 Years.”
In an enthusiastic and engaging close to the PRONI 100 celebrations the audience heard Peter Crooks and other guests discuss the future of archives and what PRONI might be like in 2124. PRONI also distributed their new centenary booklet, “PRONI 100 Treasures,” pictured below.
