Dr Lynn Kilgallon, VRTI Research Fellow in Medieval History and Humanities Lead for Knowledge Graph for Irish History, gave a talk yesterday titled “People, Power, and Parchment: The Life and Times of Medieval Dublin Castle” as part of the VRTI’s new Lunchtime Talks at the Castle series.

The event was well-attended and covered the castle’s history as a center of governance, power and control, revealing the lives of those who shaped and were shaped by it. Through the documents they created, Dr Kilgallon conveyed the castle’s role in medieval Dublin and its connections to the English crown, offering a glimpse into the workings of authority, bureaucracy, and daily life in medieval Ireland.
The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland is set to offer a series of free public talks looking at Dublin Castle and Irish history from lesser known, and sometimes unexpected, angles. Join historians from the research team to explore stories from the Castle found among the records in the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland.
