Dublin Castle stood at the heart of English rule in medieval Ireland. This talk explores the castle’s history as a center of governance, power and control, revealing the lives of those who shaped and were shaped by it—from lieutenants and chancellors to scribes and sheriffs. Through the documents they created, we uncover the castle’s role in medieval Dublin and its connections to the English crown, offering a glimpse into the workings of authority, bureaucracy, and daily life in medieval Ireland.
