Deep History, Deepening Collaborations
66 ‘For Fear of Oblivion’ – Analecta Hibernica No. 53, Special Issue Published by the Irish Manuscripts Commission Edited by Peter Crooks, Elva Johnston and Timothy Murtagh This special issue of the Irish Manuscript Commission’s serial publication, Analecta Hibernica , marks the centenary of the destruction of the Public Record Office of Ireland in the Four Courts fire of 1922. Since IMC’s foundation in 1928, recovering from the disaster of 1922 has been central to its mission. The IMC became a Core Partner in the Beyond 2022 | Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland project in 2018. This special issue contains a selection of previously unseen and unexamined documents from seven centuries of Irish history saved from the flames of 1922. It also presents an IMC-sponsored archival list of 379 bundles of previously unexamined ‘salved’ records. Contributors: J. Baldwin, E. Biggs, D. Brown, P. Crooks, P. Dryburgh, C. Fahy, B. Gurrin, E.
